myStvff : Why?

The myth out there, that failed us.

Good morning fellow readers! - yep, morning still, here in sunny Lisbon ☀️☺️

I am excited to unveil a little bit more about our project through this newsletter. We hope this will help you know us better and give you the will to share your journey with us, too!

There’s a myth out there, that failed us.

The myth that says that acquiring more stuff will make us happy.

The myth we all keep falling in for -despite knowing it’s wrong- because it’s so deeply rooted in our culture, our education.

The myth that keeps whispering in our ears : “not enough”.

Consumerism tells us that in order to be happy we must consume as many products and services as possible. If we feel that something is missing or not quite right, then we probably need to buy a product (a car, new clothes, organic food) or a service (housekeeping, relationship therapy, yoga classes). Every television commercial is another little legend about how consuming some product or service will make life better. - Yuval Noah Harari in Sapiens, A Brief History of Humankind

If this myth is failing us as individuals (we’re not happier people in countries where you own a lot) and as a species (our environment is in pretty bad shape because of it),… then… then what?

We believe that we -as a species, as humans, as individuals- are worth better than being told who to be, and what to have.

We believe that knowledge is power. Only then can you make the best decisions, aligned with who you are and who you want to be.

We believe that impacting our world positively is a multi-entry play ; like most things in life, it’s about balance. We aren’t perfect, and neither are you. It’s ok.

We believe complaining drags you down ; building pulls you up.

We believe that ultimately, it’s not Individuals against the(ir) Environment. We believe in a win-win situation, where ‘Individuals win’ does not mean ‘owns more stuff’, but rather ‘lives a fulfilling life’.

We believe we can -and should- make this journey towards a happier self, meaningful, social and enjoyable.

Our existences down here are time-limited. Let’s fill them with purposes, not stuff.

If any of the above resonates, yasss!! Sending you a virtual hug right now.

Also, we started organizing 45 minutes Happy Hour x Closet Fun sessions ; if you’re just curious and want to hear more - even if you’re not sure yet about participating, reach out to me by hitting the 👉 Reply button of this email. I’m already excited to read you!
