Good day to you!
We are (already) half way through 2020! We made it 👀
Starting tomorrow, we’d like to invite you to a 31-day challenge to spice up our home routines🌶, for those of us not travelling anywhere this summer.
We call it the triangular challenge. We came up with the name 30 minutes ago and thought it sounded efficient, sharp and podium-shaped. Also, it happens to be named after the sequence triangular numbers in mathematics, that fits perfectly with what we’re about to do. 🤓
The triangular challenge 🏆
Goal:
Know what you own.
You know you have too much, good. But what does it mean exactly? Doing this exercice will help you 1) make space for gratitude for things you like (= feel good) ; 2) acknowledge things you‘re willing to discard (even if you don’t right away).
Purpose:
Not everyone here aspire to be a minimalist, this is why we came up with this adaptation of the minsgame. This month, it’s about documenting. Having said so, I think if you’re reading this newsletter, you’re probably interested in reducing your possessions, or at least aspire to have a higher ratio of things that really matter to you. In other words, less crap.
How it works:
It starts easy. You document one thing on the first day of the month. Two things on the second. Three things on the third. So forth and so on. Until July 31st. If you’re competitive, this will lead to a total of 496 items recorded by the end of the month!
👉 use the app 📱. The completion status will be live tomorrow on your homepage, to help you keep track of your progress! [Want to get the app? Fill in the form.]
If it’s easier for you (or if you can’t access the app yet), feel free to duplicate this spreadsheet (if you prefer Airtable, that works too!). Early August, once the challenge is over, let us access your doc (or send us your .xls or .csv via wetransfer) and we’ll be able to load your stuff in your app 😎
Reward :
Our favorite bottle of Porto wine 🍷🇵🇹 will be sent to everyone who’s been consistent and made it to 496 stuffs. (Plus a bottle of wine is considered a consumable so won’t add to your list of stuff…) This, is the shinny, easily identifiable reward.
There’s the hidden reward, too. The one that makes you feel good every single day of July. And unless you take the challenge, you can’t have a taste of it… 🙃
Start / End :
July 1st (tomorrow!)… until July 31st !
Rules:
applies to your physical possessions (not your digital ones)
excludes consumables (shampoo, make-up, perfume, pasta,…)
Tips:
document (sub) category by (sub) category (i.e. all my books, then all my shoes, then all my vinyls, then…) or room by room, to feel a sense of accomplishment
set up a daily reminder or add this challenge to your daily to-do list (lucky you if you’re already in our Slack, you’ll get a friendly reminder 😇)
we’re stronger together! If you’re struggling there’s a chance I am, too. Share your progress with us, by email or in Slack [join the crew]
challenges are more exciting with friends! If you think of someone who should join this challenge, forward them this newsletter 💌👯♂️
it starts quick and easy, but challenges arise over time, build up the muscle!
write down interrogations and thoughts as you go, I can’t wait to share mine with you, too
I’ll be checking on you every week via this newsletter 💋
Any questions? Don’t like Porto wine? Talk to me!
Get ready for 31 days of s(h)elf-discovery ! 🤹♀️
Have a beautiful end of the day,
