Good day!
Change of plan : this is a last minute post.
Last night, we were having this discussion the three of us, trying to put some words on the problem we want to solve with myStvff. Many of you have asked us “but what’s the overall problem you’re solving?” Legit question. And although deep down we know, we weren’t really able to express it loud and clear. Below’s a first angle.
We talk, we talk.. Passion, laughs, excitement - how much I love these moments! Turns out at 1am, we all go to bed. But Max wouldn’t sleep. He woke up at 3am, scribbled some notes. Went back to bed. Woke up again and wrote the rest. Today’s post is the result of our discussions with you + our discussion the three of us + Max’s subconscious + my keyboard.
With yoga and meditation taking more and more space in our lives (in 2020, 300 millions and 500 millions practitioners worldwide, respectively), no one can deny the need for self-connection, that starts with considering your body and mind as a temple, a sanctuary. Cherish it, make some space, eat healthy.
Funnily enough, our house - which should be, by extension, the temple of our temple - is… at best neglected, at worse full of s***.
With quarantine impacting over 3 billions people, our home is becoming -more than any time before- our temple. Let’s treat it as such. The same way we aim at not feeding our body with crappy stuff, let’s do the same for our house: let’s not fill it with useless amount of garbage.
Before the pandemic, most people wouldn’t pay much attention into building a healthy home. They would not spend much time in there, anyway. Working, commuting, going out, leaving for the weekend,… there were many good reasons to just not do it. But times have changed, very quickly. With the increase of remote work, and similar policies, people will become more and more inclined to work from home.
From minimizing the time at home, we’ll now be forced to think about making that home a temple. This takes time and discipline. We’re here to help. If Google is about organizing informations, we’re about organizing belongings.
The self storage industry is worth $87 billions worldwide, because people own too much s*** they don’t know how to manage, that they can’t even store them in their home (of course this isn’t the only reason why people use self storage, but I can’t believe all of them are just using it to just move in and out).
Isn’t it a sign of sick behavior?
You could say that self storage is a great business and we should get into it, instead of helping people manage their belongings. I would then ask you, would you prefer investing in treatments related to smoking cancer or in ways of preventing those in the first place? With climate change coming, we know more than ever where we want to stand.
