SoaO: Isma's ceramic • and so NYC
Hey there 👋 I’m Mathilde. We are Objet. We explore the intersection of consumerism, myth, satisfaction, desire, taste, joy, meaning and pride. Not specifically in that order. To brag at your next dinner, Objet is the french word for 'object' and should be pronounced 'OB-JEH'.
If you’re new here, welcome 👋
In today’s Objet journal:

About NYC 🗽
The relationship we, humans, have with shopping - and our objects as a whole - is broken: we want to bring back joy and pride.
Objet is a safe space to explore your desires and know yourself better. Objet is where style shops mindfully.

Sublime possessions have soul and meaning. Meet Isma’s first ceramic piece.
Isma is a former entrepreneur curating slow fashion brands. She’s experienced first-hand the challenges of selecting brands ‘that have nothing to hide from’. She's now helping fashion brands digitize and trace their supply chains.

Hi Isma! So what's the backstory of this object?
This is the very first ceramic art piece that I’ve created. It brought me so much happiness when I saw the final results after cooking and glazing.
What object’s been your best investment?
I would say my bike. It’s a Super 73, really perfect for the 7th crazy hills and streets of Lisbon because it has big wheels and can take me everywhere. I put it as my greatest investment so far because it brought me more freedom I would say.
Is there any other type of things you truly like to dig into?
I’m very curious and always love to learn new things. At the moment I’m very into pottery, but I also love experimenting with other types of art. Like painting, or cooking.
What’s the next purchase you’re currently contemplating?
I am a deco addict, so I have Pinterest boards full of home decor inspirations. I am waiting for a new rug I bought on Etsy for my apartment ✨

So about NYC
Damn, that was good. We sat down with people shaping the future of creative communities: makers, enablers, connectors, a handful of them born in New York, the majority from anywhere in the US and the world ~ thank you, community, for some really warm intros, we had a blast! The energy there is contagious.
